St Peters School LED Lighting Upgrade

St Peters School LED Lighting Upgrade Energy Savings

Background:

St Peter’s C.E. Primary School in Newton-le-Willows, St Helens who teaches pupils in eight classes from the Reception Year to Year 6, became increasingly concerned about their maintenance costs and levels of lighting failures and were looking for a solution to become more energy efficient and make operational savings on their utility bills.

Our Approach:

ELe® carried out an on-site lighting survey and proposed to upgrade all the existing school lighting to LED which included eight classrooms, several group teaching rooms, a craft room, a central library, general admin offices and a staff room.

However, like many schools, St Peter’s C.E. Primary School did not have spare capital to spend on the installation of new LED lighting. Thanks to ELe’s help and support the school was able to apply for money under the Salix Energy Efficiency Loan Scheme (SEELS). Salix finance provides funding for schools to reduce their energy costs through the installation of energy efficient technologies.

The SEELS scheme is funded by the Department for Education, providing interest free loans to schools to switch to energy saving technologies without the need for any up-front capital.

The Solution:

Extreme Low Energy Ltd (ELe®) proposed the installation of a new LED lighting system across the entire school, including upgrades to all existing lighting and standalone units, LED Linear Fittings, LED Panels, LED Wall Lights and Emergency Light Fittings which delivered exactly what St Peter’s School were looking for:- a solution to reduce their energy usage and operational costs.

The ELe® team managed the whole project including writing and submitting the Salix finance application on behalf of St Peter’s School to fund the LED lighting project.

Key Benefits of the LED lighting upgrade has improved the quality of lighting helping to future-proof the school, reducing energy costs and the schools carbon footprint creating a more comfortable learning environment for both staff and pupils.

Customer Outcome:

The school’s Business Manager Lisa Blackledge is delighted with the way in which ELe® delivered their new LED lighting system;  “The installation work was completed on time and with minimum disruption, teachers have already commented on the improvement in the quality of the lighting.  Nothing has been too much trouble for the ELe® team their project management was excellent, there is no doubt that without the support from ELe® we wouldn’t have been able to entertain a project of this scale.”

John Nuttall, Business Development Manager at ELe® says; “We are delighted to install our energy efficient, state-of-the-art LED technology at St Peter’s C.E. Primary School.  It will not only help the school to reduce their energy costs but will also have a positive impact on the staff and students wellbeing and learning outcome too including reduced eyestrain and improved alertness and cognition, a perfect example of the work we are doing to drive energy efficiency in schools.”
